Acupuncture
Acupuncture improves the body’s functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific anatomic sites or acupoints. It is the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin. Pressure, heat, or electrical stimulation may further enhance the effects. Other acupoint stimulation techniques include manual massage, moxibustion (heat therapy), cupping, gua sha and the topical application of herbal medicines.
Like a vast irrigation system, if water gets blocked anywhere in the irrigation canals, it will cause a back-up that overwaters upstream plants and underwaters downstream plants. When the water flow is no longer blocked and back to normal levels, the plants will get enough water to heal themselves. Likewise, when our body flow of energy is unblocked, the yin and yang forces are balanced and Qi flows smoothly. Acupuncture resolves pain, improves sleep, digestive function, and sense of well-being.

Cupping
Evidence has shown cupping therapy had been part of many ancient healing systems of China, Korea, Tibet and Egypt dating back to 1550BC. Greek physician Hippocrates, often referred to as the “father” of medicine, had compiled descriptions of cupping techniques.
Cupping involves placing cups on the skin to create suction which would improve the flow of energy in the body and promote healing. It can relieve muscle tension, help promote cell repair and create new blood vessels in the tissue.
Depending on the patient’s symptoms, the practitioner may choose to integrate cupping in the acupuncture treatment or it can be used as a stand- alone therapy.

Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves stroking the skin to improve circulation. This traditional Chinese healing technique may offer a unique approach to better health, addressing issues like chronic pain.
Gua Sha massage is intended to address stagnant energy, called Qi, in the body that in TCM theory is responsible for inflammation. Inflammation is the underlying cause of several conditions associated with chronic pain. Gua Sha is able to help break up this energy, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.
Fine capillaries (tiny blood vessels) start to give off the petechiae known as Sha in Chinese. This is a good thing. It releases toxins from the blood and greatly stimulates circulation in the area. It also has an anti-inflammatory and immune protective effect that persists for days following a single Gua Sha treatment.
Gua Sha is generally performed on a person’s back, buttocks, neck, arms, and legs. Gua sha helps with migraines and headaches, Hep B, breast engorgement, neck pain, Tourette syndrome, perimenopausal symptoms and more.
